OUR HISTORY
Herdade de Castros is located in Campo Maior, in the heart of Alentejo, near the Spanish border. It was here that, over a century ago, the first olive groves were planted, becoming an integral part of the landscape and identity of the founding family. For three generations, their dedication has been focused on olive cultivation, a symbol of their deep connection to the land and the region’s agricultural tradition. In 2007, the third generation founded the olive mill and created the Herdade de Castros brand, beginning the production and sale of extra virgin olive oil and table olives with their own identity. Today, now in its fourth generation, Herdade de Castros combines centuries-old heritage with modernity, preserving the authenticity and quality that have always distinguished it.
What do we produce?
Herdade de Castros is dedicated to producing two of the greatest symbols of the Mediterranean diet:
Extra virgin olive oil – made from olives harvested at the peak of ripeness and cold-pressed in our mill, ensuring freshness, intensity, and rich aromas.
Table olives – the fruit of careful harvesting and a process that respects tradition, resulting in tasty, nutritious, and authentic olives.
Come and meet us.
Herdade de Castros is more than a brand—it is a family legacy and a tribute to the Alentejo region. Explore our online store or visit us in Campo Maior: you will be welcomed with the same dedication with which we care for our olive groves.
